Data View Web Part – Add a Hyperlink

This is an article and video that I did on Endusersharepoint.com

When a Data View Web Part is added to a page in SharePoint Designer, it is sometimes useful to include links to the content of the list. In a regular view of a list on your site in the browser, the list’s Title field is a link to open the item.

This video is a supplement to my article, Data View Web Part, The Basics – Add a Hyperlink. Yeah, I don’t know why my face was green. Cheap camera?
Laura I love you as much as i love Sharepoint. When i see your photo i dream with you telling me the secrets of sharepoint, could you help and love me?
Thanks for sharing the knowledge of SPD. I do have a question. In any SharePoint lists, there is a author field (or created by field). How can I get the email address of the author or created by in DVWP? Is it possible? Thanks in advance. Tony
With the help of your screencasts I’ve been able to add links to a document and to the edit properties of a document, but one thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to add a link to the “approve/reject” option for a document (for libraries that have approval enabled). Any hints? thanks
Oooh, good question Dan!
Here’s the syntax of the URL (on my own site):
http://team.sharepoint911.com/personal/laura/_layouts/approve.aspx?List={3F90FE9E-518E-46F6-8A64-826317EDB589}&ID=4
So yours would be:
http://siteurl/laura/_layouts/approve.aspx?List={yourlistGUID}&ID=4
At the end, the ID is the unique ID of that one item in the list/library that needs to be approved. Also, you’ll probably want to add a &source to the end of it. I wrote a whole other blog post “may the &source be with you”
