Power Hour This Week: Workflows

This Wednesday during our weekly SharePoint Power Hour live broadcast, I’ll be talking about workflows. Specifically, I’ll be talking about dealing with emails within SharePoint Designer workflows.
This will apply to SharePoint 2013/2010/2007. You’ll learn about formatting emails, putting pictures in them, and using variables to make them more efficient.
Come hang out with us, and ask us questions using the comments as we stream LIVE on our YouTube channel.
All you have to do is show up on this channel at 11 Central on Wednesdays.

Hi Wonder Laura,
I am a big fan of your blog. Very clear and super handy tips&tricks.
I wonder if it’s possible to get the value of a Business Data Connectivity Filter and put this in a documentlibrary column.
Or is it possible to start a workflow from a Business Data Connectivity Item webpart?
Hopefully you can help me with that.
Thanks in advance and happy holidays.
Kind regards,
René (a guy from the Netherlands)
Hi Rene,
You can create an external data column in a list or library, which lets you pick from the data in that external source. You can also pass values via web part connections, but you can’t start a workflow based on data in an external location, out of box.
