Summer SharePoint Power Hours

Hi everyone, I would like you to vote on your favorite topics for the next few Power Hours this summer.  I’m going to plan them all out and make a schedule, so that you’ll know what topics will be covered and when.  You may vote for up to three topics, and I’m going to take the top six or so, and those will what we cover for the next couple of months.  Please let me know (in comments) if you have any requests that are not listed, and I’ll review those, and will add any that I think I can demo.

What is SharePoint Power Hour? It’s my live broadcast every Wednesday at 11 central http://www.youtube.com/wonderlaura

  • Dear Laura, I’m new in SharePoint and I don’t know how to work with codes. I have a site and I need to create a relationship between parent and child list in sharpoint 2013 without coding.

    • Hi Nancy, in SharePoint that’s called a Lookup column. Go to the list or library settings page, and when you create a new column, choose “Lookup” as the column type. Pick which list needs to be the parent, and pick which column(s) you want.

  • Hi Laura, Thanks for quick answer. But I have one parent list with more than 2000 records and each record has information in 30 child lists which should be connected together . The point is when somebody search for one item like name of a patient in parent list, the information about this patient in child lists show up correctly on the the same web part page

    • Oh, this is more of what we refer to as a “cascading lookup”. You’d have to use either 3rd party tools, JQuery, or InfoPath to be able to accomplish it. Unfortunately there’s no quick out-of-box method yet.

  • Hi Laura – first of all I really enjoy your SharePoint Power Hour videos!

Do you have any plans to do a Power Hour that would focus on using DocuSign with SharePoint? My company is starting to use DocuSign and I would like to start the users out in SharePoint and then using the DocuSign add in to track the signatures. Thanks!
